How to check if Outlook is using Cached Exchange Mode

To check if Cached Exchange Mode is in use, and to switch it on if necessary, follow the instructions below. The instructions assume the use of Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016:

  1. Click the File menu tab, then click the Account Settings button, then click on Account Settings... in the drop-down menu.
  2. Click to select the required account (there may be only one) in the list shown.
  3. Click on Change....
  4. If the Use Cached Exchange Mode checkbox is ticked, Cached Exchange Mode is already in use by your Outlook profile.
  5. If the box is unticked and you wish to switch on Cached Exchange Mode, click the box to as to tick it.
  6. If you have been instructed or recommended to switch off Cached Exchange Mode, click the box to clear the tick or leave the box unticked, as appropriate.
  7. Click the Next button.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialogue box.
