How do I copy a chart from Excel into a Word document?


  1. In Excel, select the embedded chart or chart sheet that you want to copy to a Word document.
  2. Select the Home tab then from the Clipboard group click the Copy button.
  3. In the Word document, click where you want to paste the copied chart.
  4. Select the Home tab then from the Clipboard group click Paste.
  5. Either

you will see five options. You can choose to embed or link the chart and you can choose destination theme or source formatting as well as picture

    1. if you embed the chart it is no longer linked to Excel
    2. if you link the chart then updates within Excel will affect the chart in your Word document
    3. source formatting keeps any formatting options set in Excel
    4. destination theme will allow changes to the look of the chart based on settings in the Word document
    5. picture will paste the chart as a graphic
