Early career researchers at the University of Sussex are being invited to take advantage of a comprehensive programme of professional development workshops designed to support their research careers.
The Sussex Researcher School's ECR Development Series offers a range of free workshops throughout the academic year, helping researchers develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed both within and beyond academia. The programme is aligned with Vitae's Researcher Development Framework and covers topics including research skills, career planning, personal effectiveness, research governance, and research impact.
The programme includes practical sessions on academic writing, developing research proposals, open research, publication metrics, career planning, project management, and building an effective online research profile. Researchers can also access workshops focused on wellbeing and professional resilience, including sessions on managing workload, stress, perfectionism and imposter phenomenon.
Alongside individual workshops, the series features academic writing retreats and induction events designed to help early career researchers connect with colleagues, strengthen their professional networks and make the most of the support available at Sussex.
All workshops are free for Sussex early career researchers, with registrations managed through Eventbrite. Participants can also request reasonable adjustments to support their engagement with sessions.
Researchers can explore the full programme and upcoming events on the Sussex Researcher School website.
