Take part in Sussex’s first inter-residence dodgeball competition

Calling all campus residents! Do you know the 5 D’s of dodgeball? Do you want to take part in a fun, friendly (and free!) dodgeball competition?
Res Life and Sussex Sport are coming together to host Sussex’s first inter-residence dodgeball competition on Saturday 17 October, from 10am-1pm in the Sports Centre.
What to expect
There will be great music and free pizza for participants, with teams from different residences competing to crown the accommodation dodgeball champions of 2026!
Don’t worry if you’ve not played before – the game is easy to pick up, and a lot of fun
We’ll have lots of prizes too in the form of credit on the Sussex Uni Food app to use in campus food outlets.
Prize categories
- Funniest team name (8 x £10 food credit)
- Overall winning team (8 x £20 food credit)
How to sign up
- Get together with your friends in a team of 6 – 8 people. The games are 6 v 6 but it’s good to have a few substitutes.
- Choose a team name and a team captain
- Go to Opportunity Hub and follow the sign-up instructions. Every player needs to book via Opportunity Hub but only the captain needs to email ResidentialLife@sussex.ac.uk with your team name, list of players, and the accommodation you’re representing.
That’s it! And don’t forget – if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball…

Q: If I don’t have a team of 6 can I still take part?
A: Yes, just book for yourself via Opportunity Hub and then email ResidentialLife@sussex.ac.uk and we’ll pair you up with other players on the day to make a full team of eight.
Q: Do I have to be a campus resident?
A: Yes, this is an inter-residence competition.
Q: What happens if some of my team-mates drop out at the last minute?
A: Don’t worry – we'll find substitutes for you on the day.
Q: Can I bring alcohol?
A: No, this is a non-drinking event.
Q: Can I play in fancy dress?
A: Fancy dress is optional but encouraged!
Q: Can I invite friends to come and watch?
A: Please do! There are viewing benches available on the balcony above the Sports Hall. Please bear in mind that free pizza will only be available to players.
