Looking for dedicated time to make progress on your writing?
The Sussex Researcher School will be running eight monthly one-day academic writing retreats during the 2026-27 academic year for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and early career researchers (ECRs).
These intensive retreats provide the time, space and structure to help you make significant progress on a thesis chapter, journal article, book chapter or other writing project. Supported by an experienced facilitator, you'll set realistic goals, develop productive writing habits, and work alongside peers in a focused and supportive environment.
Please note that these retreats are designed to support writing productivity rather than writing style or technique. Participants will leave with practical strategies for planning and measuring progress, techniques for improving focus, a better understanding of their writing process, and, most importantly, a substantial amount of writing completed.
