Name: Dr Henry J Dore
School: Engineering & Informatics
In a nutshell, what is your research on?
My research is area is thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. I am interested in the energy efficiency of consumer products and heat transfer in the human environment. I have also designed numerical models of human thermoregulation to investigate human thermal comfort. I enjoy working with industry, both on research and consultancy projects.
What do you enjoy in your role as an ECR Rep?
I enjoy getting to meet researchers and academics from other departments. Being an ECR rep is a great way to understand how the university functions on a larger scale, and to find likeminded academics to collaborate with.
What is your ideal way to spend a weekend?
I'd start the day with a nice run along the undercliff path from Brighton to Rottingdean. Then I would undo all my good work by cooking a massive fry-up. Hopefully at some point in the afternoon I would end up in a sunny pub garden with friends, and maybe even see some live music in the evening.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I cycle to work every day, come rain or shine.
