Update - changes to Sports Centre access
Posted on behalf of: Sussex Sport
Last updated: Tuesday, 13 January 2026
From Monday 19 January we’re changing the way gym users access the Sports Centre.
Instead of scanning your student or staff ID card and signing in at the reception desk, gym users will need to scan a QR code on the Sussexsport app when entering the Sports Centre and the gym rooms.
This change will mean gym users no longer need to wait at the reception desk, speeding up entry for all Sports Centre users.
Set up your Sussexsport app now
If you haven’t already, you can set up the Sussexsport app and the QR code function using these instructions. If you can’t set up the app yourself, our team will be on hand to help when you arrive but there may be a short wait for assistance.
If you don’t have a smartphone – or choose not to bring it with you – that’s fine too. We can provide you with a temporary access card if you leave a form of ID behind the reception desk.
Please note that this access change only applies to gym users. If you’re arriving for a class or activity, please sign in at the reception desk as usual. The existing accessible entrance to the Sports Centre won’t be affected by these changes and will not require a QR code to use.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with the team by emailing sussexsport@sussex.ac.uk or visiting the Sports Centre reception.
Thank you for your support while we upgrade our systems.
