The development of the University’s new website and intranet is now well underway. We are currently working on the delivery of Phase 1 (prospective student facing content to support recruitment) for spring 2026.

As part of Phase 1, we’re undertaking a content audit to ensure that the content we migrate to the new website is accurate, consistent and relevant for users. We’ve already reached out to colleagues with current responsibility for pages or content within the ‘Study’ section of our website.

Next, we will audit the ‘About Us’ and Collaborate’ sections of the website, plus we’ll be taking a phased approach to our extensive ‘Research’ content. Affected colleagues will be contacted by email but please don’t worry if you don’t hear from the team immediately – we'll be prioritising by audience and business needs.

Decisions about what content to keep, merge or archive, are being made in a collaborative way and according to specific criteria, including:

• Is the content out of date?
• Is it duplicated across multiple pages?
• Does it continue to meet audience needs?

How we’re bringing the new website to life

The new website is being developed in sprints – intensive two-week bursts of activity which include laying out parts of the website from the user’s perspective, designing those parts in our new brand, building those parts, and then testing. This will be repeated across 20 weeks of sprints that will bring our new website to life.

Once the different parts of the new website are built and tested, we’ll start migrating audited content over from the current website. As we move information into the new system, not every existing page will stay as a “page” – some might be sections on other pages or appear as reusable blocks across different areas.

For example, in the first instance the overall number of pages we have in the ‘Study’ section will reduce from 1,632 to 1,082, with another 47 pages to be merged into the pages being kept. You can watch a video explaining our approach to connecting content if you’d like more detail.
