Audiovisual technology

We install and maintain audiovisual equipment for many of the rooms on campus and support staff who require assistance while teaching in General Teaching Space (GTS) rooms.

We also lend equipment to presenters and lecturers and provide a range of audiovisual services.

AV Technology in General Teaching Space 2012

Traditionally, all GTS rooms have been equipped with facilities for both DVD and VHS playback, but the transition between legacy and modern technologies is now underway.

All new teaching rooms, including the New Academic Block (NAB), are being fitted with BluRay & DVD playback, plus digital document cameras as standard and, due to the high costs of sourcing obsolescent and therefore scarce equipment, will no longer be fitted with VHS players, OHPs or 35mm slideprojectors.

A small stock of VHS players and slideprojectors will be kept for loan from IT Service Desk in Shawcross for manual attachment in the NAB as required, but as existing machines reach end of life, they will not be replaced.

Training on how to use the AV equipment in all teaching space is available from IT Services.
