Shut Up and Write!
Monday 16th May (16.00 - 17.30) - Dhaba Café (Arts C)
The Sussex Research Hive Scholars invite you to join them, to stop procrastinating and start writing!
Come sit down with a group of your fellow researchers, and see how much you can accomplish in less than two hours. A £3 coffee/snack voucher will be provided, but please arrive 10 - 15 minutes early, before the Dhaba Café stops serving.

Doctoral Discussions: Viva
Tuesday 31st May (12.00 - 14.00) - Fulton 107

For their final Doctoral Discussions session of the year, the Hive Scholars have decided to focus on one of the aspects of the PhD that many people find most intimidating: the viva.
The Scholars are putting together an informal panel of doctoral researchers who have recently completed their vivas, and are willing to share their experiences with others. From overcoming nerves to tips on preparation, come gather some tips from researchers who have been there and done that!

New Blog Competition: Spring Pictures
The Research Hive Scholars are happy to announce their next blog competition! This month they are asking for your picture submissions on the theme of ‘Spring at Sussex.’ This can be interpreted in any way you choose, whether it be taken indoors, outdoors, of a little cute animal or a pile of books.
The winner will receive:
- A choice between £10 National Book Token or Amazon Voucher
- SAGE goodie bag
- 25% off SAGE paperbacks
To enter, simply send your picture to the Hive Scholars twitter account @sussexreshive and please use #blogcomp .
Or, you can send it in via email to researchhive@sussex.ac.uk (please let the Hive Scholars know if you are okay with them re-posting your images on twitter if you submit in this way).
The deadline is 15th May. Submitted photos will be displayed on the Hive blog in a beautiful gallery shortly after.
