I am responsible for ensuring there is efficient and effective administrative support for both faculty and students in the School of English.  This includes:

  • Managing all support staff in the School of English;
  • Planning the teaching loads for faculty in consultation with the Head of School;
  • Working  with the Head of School as part of the School Management Team;
  • Authorising School fund expenditure;
  • Organising space allocations within the School of English;
  • Coordinating the servicing of school committees and meetings; 
  • Assuming the role of  School Health & Safety Coordinator.

As Curriculum and Assessment Officer I provide administrative support for the School’s curriculum, quality assurance and student assessment and progress processes.This includes:

  • Responsibility for managing and maintaining the module and course database, and associated paperwork
  • Giving advice on curriculum development, module and course revisions
  • Administration of the processes for module evaluation
  • Coordinating and processing module transfers and other variations of course
  • Managing the process for the allocation of Elective modules
  • Ensuring that examination board processes and regulations are followed
  • Resolving problems and queries in connection with any aspect of assessment (examinations, submissions, credit weighting etc)

  • Administrative support for Doctoral Research Students e.g. intermission, extension, academic progress, viva arrangements etc.
  • Administrative support for faculty research including: assistance with submitting grant applications, processing research-related expenses for individuals and research centres and monitoring research budgets within the School, Research Leave applications from members of faculty, Applications for Research Support, disseminating information about the REF, updating research related information on the English website.
