Collection Description

Professor Colin Leys has published widely on the subject of politics in Uganda, Rhodesia, Kenya, Namibia, and other African countries. The focus of the Leys Papers is politics and local administration in Uganda. The 16 files of papers relate to the years 1962–66, and were generated as research for Leys’s essay Politicians and Policies: An essay on politics in Acholi, Uganda, 1962–1965 (East African Publishing House, 1967). Professor Leys donated the collection to the University in 1968. He was Professor of Politics at Sussex in the 1960s.
