Student Information System (SIS) – project refresher and project forum
Posted on behalf of: Better Sussex
Last updated: Monday, 19 February 2024
The University’s new Student Information System (SIS) project is set to provide Sussex with a modern, secure information system which will optimise processes impacting the student lifecycle and experience.
Following a decision to revisit the schedule for delivering the first phase of the project (UCAS Admissions) in autumn 2023, an updated version of the project plan has now been released. It still aims for full delivery of the system by autumn 2024.
Project refresher and project forum
If you’ve not been following the project closely, our short, four-point refresher below will help to bring you up to speed.
All colleagues are also welcome to join us for an online project forum at the end of February (further details at the end of this article).
1) Scope
The new Student Information System focuses on student and applicant administration, and the information and processes relating to them (personal profiles, assessments, results, curriculum and syllabus detail, enrolment status etc.). Most other processes and information sets that do not relate to a student record but are found in our current content management system will remain unchanged in their current locations.

4) Timeline
Planning for the Student Information System project started in 2022. Following a decision to replan our delivery schedule in autumn 2023, we are now working to an updated plan. It remains our aim to deliver the whole system by autumn 2024, in time for the return of students for the new academic year.
February Project forum
To explore these areas further and allow you to ask questions about the project directly, we will be holding an online project forum on Thursday 29 February between midday and 1pm. The session will be led by Kate O’Riordan (Pro-Vice-Chancellor - Education and Students) and Jayne Aldridge (Director for the Student Experience).
All colleagues are welcome to attend.
Please make a note of the time and date in your Outlook calendar. You can join the session using the following Zoom link: https://universityofsussex.zoom.us/j/92862930572
