Refugees vs Conflicts: from a legal perspective
Monday 3 April 13:00 until 14:00
Arts C333
Speaker: Naoko Hashimoto
Part of the series: SCSR Research Cafe
Please join the Sussex Centre for Conflict and Security Research (SCSR) for our next Research Cafe event, which features Naoko Hashimoto discussing 'Refugees vs Conflicts: from a legal perspective'.
Maoko will discuss what kinds of positive and negative implications have possibly emerged from the recent trend to regard refugees as those fleeing conflict situations or generalised violence.
Naoko's observartions are based upon her experience as a practitioner working for refugees and other displaced populations as a UNHCR staff member and as a government official for the past 15 years.
Contributions from those who are interested in refugee issues (particularly in refugee law) are most welcome.
SCSR Research Cafes
This term's SCSR Research Cafes take place on Mondays, 1-2pm, Arts C333.
Research cafes are meant as informal spaces to support the development of research ideas, projects and publications. Anyone can propose leading a session - either around their own work or around a theme.
We'd especially welcome sessions led by PhD researchers, including people at an early stage of their research. These could be around draft papers, fieldwork plans or reports, methodological issues or anything else of interest which is related to conflict and security research.
Please email Katy on scsr@sussex.ac.uk if you are interested in leading a session, or have suggestions for a theme for discussion.
Future events include 10 April - Yasamin Alkhansa - title tbc
