Housing advice events in February

Last updated: Thursday, 28 January 2016
The University of Sussex Housing Services are providing events to help you find accommodation for the next academic year:
Housing Fair, 3 February, 10am – 3pm, Falmer House Common Room
Pop in to chat with Housing Services, Sussex Students’ Union and local groups for housing advice. The fair coincides with the launch of new properties advertised on Sussex StudentPad by landlords, available from September. Properties on Sussex Student Pad conform to the University's code of standards, along with no fees for students, and offer reassurance that any complaints can be reported to and investigated by Housing Services.
Housing Talk, 2 February, 5pm - 6pm, Arts A2 Lecture Theatre
Come along and find out everything you need to know about finding accommodation.
Housemate Mingles
Having trouble finding housemates for next year? Want to meet like-minded people to live with or hook up with your Facebook contacts in real life? Come along to the Housemate Mingle events and meet some potential housemates over a cup of tea and some cake. Housing Office staff will be there too, to answer any questions.
- University Information Centre, 91 Lewes Road (just by Sainsburys Gyratory)
- Undergraduates – Thursday 4 and Friday 5 February 1pm – 4pm
- Postgraduates – Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 February, 1pm – 4pm
Get housing help advice on or off campus at all times of the year
Don’t forget, before you sign or pay any money, to bring a copy of your tenancy agreement into the Housing Services receptions (10am-4pm, Monday to Friday), either on campus in Bramber House or 91 Lewes Road, so that a Housing Officer can sit with you and read through it carefully with you. You can pop in or make an appointment via your Sussex Direct account in-advance.
Dean Spears, Head of Housing, says: “Properties will be available from Sussex Student Pad from 3 February, with more added over the next few months. Our advice remains consistent: don’t be rushed or pushed into signing a tenancy agreement and always view several properties first before making a decision. You’re not on your own and we’re here to help you.”
The Housing Services web pages provide advice and information about searching for private-sector housing, including where to look, living in the community and tips and hints.
