Professor Benjamin Sovacool appointed to energy advisory group and Dr Des Doran awarded Fellowship by CIPS

Benjamin Sovacool, Professor of Energy Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) and Director of the Sussex Energy Group as well as the Centre on Innovation and Energy Demand, has been appointed to the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for Energy (AGE).

Horizon 2020 Advisory Groups are set up to advise on overall objectives as well as on scientific, technological and innovation priorities for the work programmes setting out Horizon 2020 funding opportunities.

Experts in Horizon 2020 Advisory Groups are chosen in a way that contributions from a wide range of relevant research and innovation communities can be represented. Experts are appointed to Advisory Groups for a two-year term.

The first meeting of AGE will take place in February 2016 and will discuss priorities for the coming years with regard to EU support for research and innovation in the energy field

Dr Des Doran

Senior Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management Dr Des Doran has been awarded Fellowship status by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) for his contribution to the advancement of supply chain education in both his teaching and research. 

Fellowship is the highest grade of CIPS membership, described by the organisation as 'an accolade that recognises (an individual's) outstanding level of achievement, knowledge and experience in procurement and supply'. 

Dr Doran is Course Convenor for the MSc in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management, which is accredited by CIPS and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
