Exercise Class -- Pevensey-I 1B5

There will be a single exercise class in a booked computer laboratory (Pevensey-I 1B5) once each week on Thursdays from 17.00-17.50. The purpose of this is provide you with practical help at the terminal. A specific exercise will be set each week and answers can be handed in for marking at the following exercise class. Marked answers will be returned at the subsequent exercise class.

The exercise class sheets are available in PDF form as follows:
Exercise 1
Exercise 2
Exercise 3
Exercise 4
Exercise 5
Exercise 6
Exercise 7
Exercise 8
Exercise 9

A lot of the work on the course is based on ``teach'' and ``help'' files that you will be able to read and play with using the computer. Apart from the Exercise Class, there are no timetabled laboratory classes, but you are expected to spend many hours a week using the computer. Programming is a skill which can only be learned by extensive practice, and we recommend that MSc students spend at least 10 hours per week on this course. Some people find programming very easy to learn and may need to spend less time than this. Others find it quite difficult, and may need to spend more. If you find yourself in this category, do not be discouraged. Nearly everyone gets there in the end!

There will be a paid demonstrator available in your labs to help you with programming problems. The time will be announced later, along with the name of the demonstrator.
