Brief descriptive contents of mosaic:

Main apse: Virgin, angels, donors, bishops.
Apse arch: St John and St Matthew symbols, remains of St Mark and St Luke, flora, geometrical pattern.
South apse: St Matthew, St Michael, saints, donor.
Ambo: The ambo to the north (by Romualdo II Guara) was remade after 1730 with residual mosaics. The one to the south has original mosaics of 12C (Marchese & Garzillo, 1984).
Lunette: St Matthew.

Lunette, south apse: 13C
Main apse: 1947-54
Apse arch: 12C. Earthquake damage revealed two walled-up single narrow windows [monophores] on the walls around the main apse which are throws doubt on an 11C date of the remaining mosaics (Marchese & Garzillo, 1984).
North and south apses: c. 1260
