Map of the groynes and harbour arms in the BAR area.
Features were taken from orthophotos at a scale of 1:5,000 (flown in 2001) provided by the Environment Agency for the UK side and from topograhic maps at a scale of 1:25,000, supplemented by field visits for the French side. Out of the 1285 groynes on the
UK side 179 are concrete groynes, 37 area boulder groynes and 1069 are wooden groynes of which more than 50% were in a poor state. Click on the map to see a higher resolution map in a new window.

Map of the seawalls in the BAR area. Features were taken from orthophotos at a scale of 1:5,000 (flown in 2001) provided by the Environment Agency for the UK side and from topograhic maps at a scale of 1:25,000, supplemented by field visits for the French side. 78.5 km of the seawalls on the UK side are made of concrete, 5.5 km of boulders and 1.6 km of wooden breastwork.
