Printing from a Chromebook is easy with the Sussex webprint service.

You can use the webprint service to print on the campus from any computer, including the Sussex Chromebooks. To use the service, you choose your printer and upload a file

With the webprint service, you can send PDFs and Office documents to the student printers on the campus.

Converting images for printing

The webprinting service accepts PDF and Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). So if you want to print an image or a screenshot, first use the Chromebook to convert it to a PDF:

  1. Use the Files icon to navigate to your file (downloaded files will be in the Downloads folder)
  2. Double-click the image to open it
  3. Click the Print button in the menu bar on the image viewer
  4. Make sure the Destination is showing Save as PDF (this is the default option)
  5. Click Save

This will save the image as a PDF which you can then upload to the webprint service.

Using webprint for the first time

Before you can use webprint for the first time, you must first have printed at least one page using the University PCs. This will set up your University printing account. It only has to be done once, after which you can use webprinting at any time.

Checking your print balance

When you use webprint with the printers on the campus, the charges are exactly the same as when you print from a PC.
