The convention, for students thinking about applying to university, took place on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 April in the Sport Centre and Mandela Hall.

It provided students with an opportunity to speak to representatives from 151 higher education providers and ask them questions about their applications.

The event proved popular with the schools that attended, with The Weald School tweeting: “Y12 enjoyed an insightful trip to the #UCASConvention @SussexUni today. Planning for #futurechoices starts now!”

Hailsham Community College added: “70 students went to the #UCASConvention @SussexUni today. Great to see our 6th Formers so enthusiastic about their future!”

The Convention benefited from two days of glorious weather on campus – The Student Room summed this up by posting: “What a super sunny Monday for the #UCASconvention @SussexUni.”

Adam Willsmore, Student Recruitment Officer at Sussex, said: “It’s important that young people are able to make informed choices at this crucial stage in deciding their futures and our event is often the only opportunity they have to speak to so many experts in one place.”

Marcus Williams, Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing, added: “As well as enabling students to speak to representatives from different universities, the event also gave us an opportunity to showcase our beautiful campus to an enormous number of prospective students.”
