Sussex wins 2012 Varsity sports
Sussex defeated Brighton in the annual Varsity sports competition on 18 April, taking home the trophy for only the second time.
With teams from a number of sports competing fiercely for glory, Sussex narrowly defeated local rivals Brighton by winning seven matches to their six.
On a rainy, wet Wednesday, the tennis was cancelled because of the bad weather.
There was a nil-nil draw for the men’s football team, and defeats for Sussex in netball, men’s rugby men, men’s hockey, men’s volleyball, women’s football and women’s badminton.
The all-important Sussex victories came in men’s and women’s basketball, women’s hockey, women’s rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, women’s volleyball and men’s badminton.
