Updated 10 August 2023: Due to technical delays, staff parking permit applications for 2023/24 open via Sussex Direct from Friday 1 September.
If you are a University, BSMS or IDS staff member and need a permit before then, please contact the Transport Office. All other staff application forms (Carer Scheme, Tutors, and Third Party groups) are available now.
Applications for campus parking permits and parking passes for the academic year 2023/24 will open on Tuesday 8 August 2023, with all previous existing permits expiring on 31 August 2023.
All staff seeking to park on campus during the 2023/24 academic year are eligible to apply for:
- a parking permit: £30 per month pro-rata, paid directly via salary deductions
- a pass to park: issued for free, requires purchase of daily scratchcards (£20 per book of 10)
Staff who drive to campus only a few days each week may find that scratchcards offer a cheaper option than a full annual permit.
How to apply
If you are a staff member directly employed by the University (including IDS and BSMS), apply via Sussex Direct for a new permit or pass from Tuesday 8 August, or to renew your existing one. Navigate to 'Personal', then 'Transport'.
All other applications for parking permits should be submitted via the appropriate form on the Transport web pages.
- Carer permits – if you are a University, IDS or BSMS staff member, please apply for a standard permit via Sussex Direct and submit a separate carer scheme application form
- Disability or mobility issues – Blue Badge holders do not require a campus parking permit and have access to disabled bays; other staff disabled parking applications should be submitted via Occupational Health
- Associate tutors – includes doctoral and retired tutors, that are only occasionally on campus
- Third-party staff (SussexFood, Students’ Union, StudyGroup, etc.) should contact their line manager for information regarding parking permits
Application forms will be available from Tuesday 8 August 2023.
Parking permit applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so please submit your application as promptly as possible.
If your application is successful, you will be notified via e-mail how and when you can collect your permit.
Student parking permit applications will open in September.
Reviewing parking on campus
With the West Slope development and other major projects ongoing, we are closely monitoring and reviewing parking availability on campus, and will continue to manage the University transport strategy over the next few years. We encourage all campus users to use sustainable transport options wherever feasible including public transport, cycling, and car share.
