The University’s Network Replacement Programme (NRP) is ongoing this summer, as we undertake preparatory works to install new and improved network infrastructure to the University campus.
Trenching and ducting work in the southern end of campus is progressing well, and we are now shifting into the next phase of these works on and around the Southern and Eastern Ring Roads.
Southern Ring Road
Roadworks will be taking place on North South Road from Wednesday 2 August, outside of the main entrance of the Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) Teaching building, for two weeks.
This will impact the junction with the Southern Ring Road (by Sussex House) with one lane closed, and priority traffic management in place.
After this two-week section, works will then move onto Biology Road and around P3 Biology Road car park until Tuesday 19 September.
Eastern Ring Road
Works have been delayed slightly on the Eastern Ring Road, with roadworks on the corner outside of Freeman and Knights Gate car park ongoing until Friday 11 August. Three-way traffic lights are in place.
After this is complete, works will move to the Eastern Ring Road until Wednesday 20 September, parallel with Knights Gate car park. Two-way traffic lights will be in place.
Impact to bus services
Buses onto campus will be diverted during the two-week roadworks on North South Road, from Wednesday 2 August.
Buses will enter campus via the top entrance at Knights Gate Road instead. As a result, the Sport Centre and Sussex House bus stops will be suspended, with bus services starting at North South Road then proceeding as normal.
After this closure, works will relocate off of North South Road and the bus route will return to normal.
