The University’s Network Replacement Programme (NRP) is on track to provide a modern, fast, reliable, secure wired and wireless network across the campus by August 2025.
Initial enabling and preparatory works have been successfully completed and the programme is entering the delivery stage with a wide variety of interior and exterior works set to take place right across the campus in the coming months.
Sussex residences – Wifinity rollout
Sussex residences are being upgraded with new IT Wi-Fi equipment by a new IT Service Provider, ‘Wifinity’ over the summer.
The new kit is expected to provide a significant boost to reliability and coverage for students living in these buildings, responding directly to student feedback, and marking the first of many exciting benefits the NRP project will deliver.
Initial enabling works (May 30 – June 11) are taking place in Brighthelm, Lewes Court and Norwich House and focusing on cabinet replacements, fibre-optic and power enabling work.
New Wifinity connections will then be rolled out and switched on for all residences* in phases later in the summer, ensuring that students arriving for the autumn term will enjoy a significantly improved online experience.

Main campus works – network installation
Following the exploratory trenching works which took place on campus in May, the main body of trenching, ducting and cabling works necessary to begin installing the new network is set to begin on Monday 19 June with some initial works within buildings starting too.
You can read full details of these, and other campus works planned over the summer period here.
