Menopause Awareness for Managers
Wednesday 5 June 11:30 until 13:00
University of Sussex Campus
Part of the series: Thriving through Menopause
Target Audience: All staff (Academic and Professional Services) with or taking on management/leadership responsibilities.
Menopause shouldn’t be a taboo subject, and everyone should feel they can have an open conversation with their line manager, especially when they need advice or support.
With a growing number of people going through the menopause transition experiencing symptoms so severe that they leave the workplace, it is vital that managers understand the impact that symptoms can have, and know how to support their colleagues.
Research shows that people are often uncomfortable disclosing their symptoms and problems to managers, particularly if those managers are young or male. For this reason, we encourage managers of all ages and genders to attend this online training.
This workshop will cover:
• Why we need to talk openly about menopause
• What menopause is, why it happens and when
• The signs and symptoms
• How you can support colleagues in your role as a line manager
• How to access support and resources available at the University
Register on this workshop through LearnUpon. Please log in to LearnUpon first for this link to take you directly to there.
Organisational Development will email further details the day before the event.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you have any accessibility requirements regarding this staff development activity (e.g., hearing/visual impairment) so that we can do our very best to accommodate your needs.
