'Designing Queer & Trans Narratives' feat. Cat Fitzpatrick & Bishakh Som
Monday 22 May 13:00 until 15:00
University of Sussex Campus : Arts A108
Speaker: Cat Fitzpatrick and Bishakh Som
Part of the series: Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence Presents
Join LittlePuss Press Editrix and Verse Novelist Cat Fitzpatrick (The Call-Out) and Award-Winning Graphic Novelist Bishakh Som (Apsara Engine) for a workshop on how to plan, structure and revise queer and trans stories, before, during, and after the actual act of writing, drawing, or filming. The workshop will consider the political valence of different kinds of queer narrative, the question of how to fit story to form (including alternative and experimental forms), the challenge of storyboarding, what to do when your plan goes awry, and how to edit effectively, especially in forms that make editing challenging. Involving both discussion and exercises, the workshop is suitable for those interested in composing in both longer and shorter forms.
Location: Arts A108. Venue is wheelchair accessible.
Open to all. Limited to 15 participants – registration required.
