Workshop - 'Tackling Corruption Related to Human Trafficking: A Case Study of Albania'
Wed 19 April 2017
Dr Shahrzad Fouladvand is currently working on Tackling Corruption Related to Human Trafficking and as a member of Centre for the Study of Corruption (CSC) she organised a workshop to bring together representatives from government, law enforcement and academia. The workshop aimed to identify where future research should focus in order to assist law enforcement in tackling human trafficking, and the organised crime groups behind it. Using Albania as a case study, the workshop explored the insights provided by existing research, and aims to develop the following: A better understanding of the role of corruption in human trafficking, essential to the investigation and prosecution of these crimes; An evidence-based understanding of how corruption and human trafficking are interrelated; Questions and topics for future collaborative research and knowledge exchange activities.
This roundtable was funded by ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) at University of Sussex. The event was developed in partnership between the University of Sussex Centre for the Study of Corruption (CSC) and Strategic Hub for Organised Crime at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI).
