In this session, Dr Emma Simpson (Principal Social Researcher at NIESR) presents research findings from a national project into what good practice looks like in Internal Alternative Provision. As well as sharing principles for effective practice, she will discuss the pitfalls and challenges schools face in their efforts to support some of their most vulnerable learners. There will be space for discussion about implications for practice and policy as well as how the findings from this study resonate with the work and experience of others.
