The Digital and Creative Media team are hosting an online event to take you on a journey where you will experience what the digital world is like from a blind person’s perspective.
Adi Latif, an Accessibility and Usability Consultant at AbilityNet, will host an illuminating and entertaining session - demystifying the world of digital accessibility one slide at a time.
Web Manager, Tony Hudson, said: "Everyone at Sussex has a responsibility to make their work accessible for those living with a disability. It's a reflection of our values, and it makes sure we're not excluding audiences from some of the important things we want to say. I've heard Adi speak before and he is a remarkable person - just look at the videos below if you want proof. I really encourage you to try to make the time to listen to what he has to say about this fundamental issue."
The Digital and Creative Media team are currently working with AbilityNet to run an audit of the University’s website, the findings of which will lead to an action plan and project to make sure our website is inclusive to all.
What you will gain from the session
- An understanding of what digital accessibility and inclusive design is.
- A profound understanding of why making digital product and services accessible is great for your organisation and society as a whole.
- First-hand experience of seeing a blind person navigate a good and a bad digital experience.
- An understanding of the business case for accessibility and inclusive design.
- A high level roadmap of the key areas to consider in your digital accessibility journey.
