Continuing support after a sexual assault

You can contact these specialists in the local community, and individual services for continuing support, advice and counselling.

The Saturn Centre (Sexual Assault Referral Centre)

Available 24-hrs. Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Call: 01293 600469 for an appointment.

Out of hours phone 0800 0337797 for advice from the on-call team.

Contact them for crisis and medical support following recent sexual violence. If you decide to delay reporting the incident to police, they can collect forensic evidence.

The Solar Clinic at SHAC (East)

You can visit the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Eastern Road, Brighton. Call 01273 523388 (opt 2).

Booked appointments are on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am.

You can get various kinds of support:

  • a confidential, non-judgemental service dedicated to men and women who have experienced sexual assault both recently and historically
  • advice, STI testing and medical treatment as necessary
  • Solar works closely alongside The Saturn Centre in Crawley who offer forensic medical examinations; although Solar cannot offer this service they can support you to attend The Saturn Centre for these investigations if applicable
  • individuals are welcome to attend SHAC services for support at other times of the week if Tuesday mornings are not convenient
  • those who disclose sexual assault are fast tracked through the clinic and are treated with respect and dignity.

Survivors’ Network

Get help from the Survivors’ Network at 6a Pavilion Buildings, Brighton BN1 1EE.

They provide support services for:

  • all genders (aged 14-18 years)
  • self-identifying women survivors of sexual abuse above 18 years old.
