Students in Years 7 - 11

What will you do as a First-Generation Scholar?

Year 9

Assembly talk

One of our friendly student ambassadors will come into your school assembly to talk to you about university. What's it like to be a student? Why go on to higher education? What you need to do to get there?

Cohort workshop

You will be invited to a workshop in school to find out more about the First-Generation Scholars scheme, get your passport, try our 'Why University' game and ask questions.

Campus visit

Your school will organise a visit to the University of Sussex to be shown the campus by our student ambassadors, ask them all about being at university, see some accommodation and find out more about fees and funding.

Year 10 and 11

Making Informed Choices talk

You'll meet our student ambassadors again when they come into your school assembly to talk about making choices after your GCSEs, university, careers and how to achieve your future goals.

Events

Your school can choose to take part in other events and activities, like our Physics and Astronomy Tasters or Robotics Day, and they will give you all the information that you need, the same as for a school trip.

It's all free and most activities take place at our campus near Brighton.

Keeping in touch

We will send out postcards and information throughout their time on the scheme and you can email participate@sussex.ac.uk with any questions.
