Project aims and objectives

This exciting PhD project aims to examine whether, and how, the coronavirus pandemic is exacerbating ethnic inequalities in health and health care. Specific objectives include:

  1. To examine ethnic inequalities on access to treatment for non-COVID-19 related conditions, including common mental disorders, maternity services, and regular ongoing care for chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  2. To examine ethnic inequalities on care quality for non-COVID-19 related conditions, including those stated in Objective 1.
  3. To examine changes in ethnic inequalities on access to treatment and care quality (Objectives 1 and 2) pre, during, and post coronavirus pandemic.
  4. To understand whether ethnic inequalities in access to treatment and care quality have led to an increase in ethnic inequalities in health.
  5. To understand the mechanisms underlying ethnic inequalities identified in Objectives 1 to 4.
