Program Design (G6067)
15 credits, Level 3 (sub-degree)
This module aims to provide you with an understanding of object-oriented programme design and hands-on experience of designing, writing, testing and documenting object-oriented programmes.
Topics covered on the module will include:
- Software models using OO and UML
- Designing classes to solve a simple programming problem
- Data structures and the algorithms needed to manipulate them
- Stakeholders and requirements in software development
- Managing the software development process.
50%: Practical (Laboratory)
50%: Coursework (Project, Software exercise)
50%: Examination (Computer-based examination)
Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 44 hours of contact time and about 106 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
