Autumn teaching
On this module you will examine the pedagogical approaches to learning in the Early Years, before exploring common nursery philosophies found in contemporary Britain. You’ll also look at the influence of these on the modern Foundation Stage Curriculum.
You will analyse the debate around play-based learning versus more formalised learning.
Finally you’ll examine practitioner tools to support the pedagogical approaches discussed in the module, including the use of provocations, shared sustained thinking, the characteristics for effective learning and emotional wellbeing.
