Spring teaching

This module will take a theoretical and critical view on central issues in employment.

It is designed to explore and evaluate recent legal developments in the field, to engage with academic and policy debates.

A central aim is to explore the role of labour market regulation in light of the key challenges to legal regulation of labour markets, such as the influence of global economic pressures, the growth ofprecarious and ‘non-standard’ forms of work.

It will also highlight the philosophical foundations of employment, and explore modern challenges such as the relevance of human rights in, and neoliberal pressures on, the workplace.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2022/23.
