Wireless communications have become an essential part of our lives and growing massively into connected devices and industrial applications. The aim of the module is to introduce you to some of the most recent technologies in the field of wireless and mobile communications and to equip you with appropriate research methods and skills important in the design and analysis of future 5G mobile and wireless systems. You will learn about the new technologies and wireless systems design and analysis through lectures, seminars, and project work. The project work will involve research and simulations using specialised wireless communication design tools with MATLAB.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 40 hours of contact time and about 110 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2022/23.
