Harry’s family and friends established the Harry Lownds Memorial Fund in February 2019. Harry had a particular interest in potential therapeutic applications of modern genetic techniques and hoped to go on to earn a PhD and undertake research into the interplay between genomic disorders and mental health. His family hope that this scholarship will assist someone with similar interests to pursue their academic dreams in ways that will in time benefit wider society.

The scholarship is funded by donors, so it is possible to combine this with Sussex funded scholarships such as the Sussex Graduate Scholarship or Sussex Alumni Award.
