Who is eligible
Applicants will need to have received an offer of a place on an eligible Masters starting in September 2021, only candidates with offers in Law, Media & Journalism or Policy will be considered.
Successful applicants will need to:
- Demonstrate active engagement in British Muslim communities.
- Demonstrate a long-term commitment to community/societal development.
- Be classified as 'Home' for fees.
Who is not eligible
Aziz scholars are not eligible for any other Sussex funded scholarship
You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:

Courses in Science, Engineering or Mathematics

Postgraduate diplomas
-
Development Studies MA
-
Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
-
Globalisation, Business and Development MA
-
Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
-
Power, Participation and Social Change MA
-
Poverty and Development MA
-
Masters degrees in Social work if receiving an NHS bursary)
-
PGCE courses
-
Schools direct teaching courses
-
Any Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding)

Apply for a scholarship via the Aziz Foundation webpage. You need to submit a separate application for your chosen Masters at Sussex.
The successful applicants will be selected through an interview process run by the Aziz Foundation. The scholarship will cover tuition fees only at the University of Sussex. Applicants do not need to hold an offer prior to applying. However, please note that admission to the programme will depend on Sussex’s separate admissions process.

The Aziz Foundation is a family charitable foundation established in 2015. Their guiding philosophy and key principle of operation is to support British Muslims to bring positive change to their communities and beyond. These objectives are pursued through Masters scholarships programme.
The University of Sussex is one of the Aziz Foundation’s preferred partners, Sussex shares core values with the Aziz Foundation and actively encourages Widening Participation at postgraduate level.
