Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship (2020)

Chancellor's Masters Scholarships are available for Masters applicants that have, or expect to achieve a First Class UK Bachelors degree. There are only 100 scholarships available, so there is a competitive application process.

You receive £3,000, awarded as a tuition fee reduction.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • hold or expect to achieve a First Class Bachelors degree from a UK university
  • have applied and received an offer for a full time, eligible Masters degree at Sussex starting in September 2020
  • submit a separate scholarship application after you have applied for your Masters 

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

  • already have another Sussex scholarship (such as the Chancellor's International Scholarship)
  • have studied at a UK university's overseas campus or partner college
  • are a 2020 Sussex Graduate

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study the following course:

  • Postgraduate diplomas (including CPE Common Professional Examination)
  • Corruption, Law and Governance LLM (delivered in Qatar)
  • Development Studies MA
  • Early Years in Education MA
  • Globalisation, Business and Development MA
  • Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
  • Power, Participation and Social Change MA
  • Poverty and Development MA
  • Masters degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
  • PGCE courses
  • Schools Direct teaching course
  • Any Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. those receiving ESRC 1+3 funding)

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study the following courses:

  • Corruption, Law and Governance LLM (delivered in Qatar)
  • Development Studies MA
  • Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher Status) MA
  • Globalisation, Business and Development MA
  • Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
  • Power, Participation and Social Change MA
  • Poverty and Development MA
  • Masters degrees in Social Work (if receiving a NHS bursary)
  • PGCE courses
  • Schools direct teaching courses
  • Any Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. those receiving ESRC 1+3 funding are not eligible).

You are also not eligible for this scholarship if you:

  • are a 2018 Sussex graduate
  • already have another Sussex scholarship (such as the Chancellors International Scholarship)
  • have studied at a UK university’s overseas campus or partner college.

How to apply

Applications for this scholarship are now closed, we cannot consider late applicants.

Complete our scholarship application form after you have received and accepted an offer of a place on an eligible Masters.

As there are limited awards available, applicants are advised to apply as soon as possible as all awards may be allocated before the final application deadline is reached.  Priority will be given to applicants that have not already completed a postgraduate qualification.  All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email.
