Name: Max Reynard

Product Name: A product to enhance personal comfort for commercial travel

Product Info: Being comfortable is part of everyone's philosophy, be it mentally or physically, and it is known that people are very aware of their personal comfort when in transit. The commercial travel sector is therefore a haven for sore backs, red eyes, and cramped moody passengers.

My project is aimed to analyse the way we travel and create a simplistic and accessible solution to get the rest and posterior support we need when in an uncomfortable seat.

The product is conveniently portable, easy to use and adapts to cater for all sorts of travel scenarios and user positioning preferences.

Detailed research has been conducted to study the specific elements that provide the best possible posterior relief and the correct support for users. The project has progressed in conjunction with local osteopathic experts and important figures within the air travel industry for the best validation.

One of the featured aspects for the product is its ease in portability, which is a common issue for conventional luxury products, and has been well thought out for its convenience merit, and how interactions unfold whilst in transit.

The bottom line is to make you as comfortable as possible, be it on a bus, a train or a plane, through a quick and convenient personal product with an affordable price tag.

Myself as a designer:

I have always had a creative mind; it was only the issue of channelling my thoughts into the best application of my philosophy that allowed me to use it properly. Design has certainly allowed that for me.

Simplicity is a key aspect throughout my design philosophy. I feel it is best to create a simple product composed of simple ideas by the simplest means, with quality assured of course.

It is the simplistic nature of our lives that reflects through the products created to make it simpler. It is this clarity of design that makes us understand how something works, creating intuitive sense.

This is important.

As far as myself goes, I am personally very focused on the final product. I therefore have a tendency to focus much of my efforts into the conceptual and prototyping stages. However, this then gives me the inclination to overlook the reasons why I created the product in the first place.

Recently I have dove in deep throughout the research stage and come to the very real understanding of just how important it is to recognise the reasons why you are trying to develop the product in the first place, as appose to how it works and how good it looks.

It has been an enlightening year.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and highly regard the creative minds I work with and work for.
