Biography

Chantal Naidoo is an Associate Research Fellow at the Science Policy Research Unit. Her thesis and current research focuses on the contributions needed from financial systems (and actors) to advance sustainability related and just transitions.  She has worked extensively across Africa and Latin America to advance the concept of strategic approaches to financing climate action (design of funds, financing strategies, regulatory changes). Chantal also has private and public finance experience in South Africa and the United States in various professional roles at audit firms, investment banks and development finance institutions. Chantal is the founder of Rabia Transitions, a non-profit working with financial actors in developing countries, and is currently seconded to the South African Presidency, where she leads research for the Presidential Climate Finance Task Team. 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Chantal has a DPhil (Technology and Innovation) from the University of Sussex, MPhil (Development Finance) from Stellenbosch University, Honours (Tax Law) from Wits University and B.Comm (Accounting) from the University of Cape Town.
