. Brighton Bears train at the University of Sussex

5 October 1999
For immediate release

Basketball team Brighton Bears have signed an agreement with the University of Sussex to use its sports facilities for training. After 15 years at the Worthing Leisure Centre, the Budweiser League club now play their matches at the Brighton Centre and train at the Sussex campus.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Bears carry out fitness training at the Falmer Sports Complex on campus and use the University's sports halls for basketball training. In return, they have agreed to coach students in the Sussex team.

The Brighton Bears are the second professional sports team to take advantage of the high level of sports facilities at Sussex. They join footballers Brighton & Hove Albion, who have been training at the campus for a decade and play all their youth-team matches on the University's sports pitches.
