Autumn teaching

Building on existing levels of proficiency at B1+ – B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference [CEFR], the module aims to:

  • Enable students to understand the main ideas within extended speech and texts and to communicate effectively in the target language (TL) in a variety of contexts;
  • Provide opportunities, within a selected variety of topics and themes, for participation in advanced level communicative language activities (e.g. listening, reading, speaking, writing, interaction, and mediation)
  • Consolidate and develop the range of complex elements of language structures, and specialised vocabulary to support further accuracy and control in use of the TL;
  • Facilitate the analysis of important aspects of the TL culture through a variety of contextualised activities and materials, in a range of media, e.g. text; audio; audio-visual; digital.

Contact hours and workload

This module is 150 hours of work. This breaks down into 34 hours of contact time and 116 hours of independent study.
