Engineering Maths 1A (H1033)

Autumn teaching

The module will be taught using the Helping Engineers Learn Mathematics (HELM) resource.There'll be thorough revision of A-Level maths topics, particularly:

  • differential calculus
  • integral calculus
  • algebraic manipulation of functions
  • vectors
  • matrix algebra including determinants
  • Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors.

Then new material:

  • complex numbers
  • further differentiation, integration, partial differentiation
  • curves and functions.

Contact hours and workload

This module is 150 hours of work. This breaks down into 39 hours of contact time and 111 hours of independent study.
