Applied Skills in Chemistry (FND08)

15 credits, Level 3 (sub-degree)

Autumn teaching

This module will support you in areas of arithmetic and computations, data handling, graphs and interpretation so that they can study biosciences effectively at the end of the year. This module will also prepare you with laboratory skills within a range of techniques that will link to the topics covered within the Introduction to Chemistry module.

The assessment will include a pass/fail presentation, to provide you with an opportunity to test their academic skills, and an e-portfolio allowing you to demonstrate your skills development by compiling your work using current technology such as video clips and blogs.

This module is 150 hours of work. This breaks down into 44 hours of contact time and 106 hours of independent study.
