Latest Library update on Coronavirus

Library Square 2019

Latest Update 19/03/2020

The Library building will be closed from Friday 20 March at 5.30pm.

We will continue to offer a Library service remotely. Please visit and chat to our team via the chat service.

We will be offering a remote Library service. Staff and students are encouraged to use Library Chat to keep in touch and to ask us any questions they may have. This will be staffed 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Questions can also be emailed using

The Library will continue to offer 1-2-1 support, delivered remotely. Students can book a time using this online form: Support, including online tutorials, is also available via the Skills Hub.

To avoid fines accruing whilst staff and students are off campus, we have removed the request option from Library Search. Outstanding reservations have been cancelled and the requesters have been informed. Staff and students will not incur fines for late return of books during this period of disruption.

We will continue to support your study and research. If there are resources that you need, please contact us.

The Interlibrary Request service is continuing to operate while the library is closed.

We are unfortunately currently unable to supply Interlibrary Requests hardcopy books. The ILR service for supply of journal articles and chapters from books from an electronic source, and e-books (where available) remains unchanged and we will try to fulfill these requests.

Staff and students will not incur renewal charges or fines during this period of disruption. Lending libraries have been contacting us to extend the due dates of the books they have lent us and we are in the process of updating these and notifying you.  However, if you are nearing the due date of your item and you haven’t heard from us, please contact us at and we will arrange a renewal.

Any other questions please do contact us at and we will be happy to help.

We will maintain access to all our online resources. Please contact us via Library chat or email if you have any access problems.
