Summary of submission arrangements following IT problems last week

The response to the IT problems last week has happened over several days, so we are now issuing a summary of changes for clarity. In all cases we encourage students to stick to their planned schedule of work as far as is possible, however the following arrangements are in place to help students recover from lost time:

Submissions due during w/c 24th April

Submissions due during w/c 1st May

Submissions due during w/c 8th May

Submissions due 15th and 16th May

Submissions with deadlines between 17 May 2017 and 9 June 2017

Following queries from students, we are pleased to advise you that no penalties will be applied during the late submission period for all assessment submissions with a deadline set by the Schools between 17th May 2017 and 9th June 2017.

Please note that this is not an extension and that all the original deadlines within this period stand.

Requests from students to extend deadlines by 7 days have been considered, and the University has found that this could not be implemented. This is because the University staff need time for marking to ensure that marking is complete before the exam boards.

Engineering and Informatics Students

*It is not possible to give extensions for assessments that normally have no period of permissible late submission or just a 24-hour period of permissible late submission, because the academic integrity is lost when answers/feedback are issued. These are being dealt with on a case-by-case basis, please direct queries on these to your School Office.

Replacement of e-submission files
If you have an e-submission already uploaded that you wish to replace, you will be usually be able to delete and replace until the extended deadline. In some cases marking had started before the extensions were put in place, so if you encounter an error message saying "Submission cannot be recorded because assessment has been marked" please print your work and take it to your School Office who will be able to arrange the submission and marking of your work.
