Work on the University’s new Student Information System (SIS) is moving forward at pace.
The new system is set to provide the University with a comprehensive, modern, and secure platform to store and manage all our student data, as well as providing one of the foundations we need to help us deliver digital and operational transformation for the future.
Three of the project’s workstreams, (Admissions, General Person Records and Curriculum Record Management) are now underway and we held workshops for each one at the end of last year. These workshops allowed our chosen supplier, Ellucian, to provide the project team, technical team and key stakeholders from around the University with an overview of how the system will work. Ellucian also set out the tasks university colleagues will need to complete and went through the decisions required for the design and build of these parts of the new system.
Workshops have also taken place recently focused on data migration and system integrations.
In the meantime, Ellucian has provided a test system for the project team to upload test data and familiarise ourselves with the way it works, so that we can demonstrate the system to colleagues and other users over the next few months.
We’re continuing to prepare more detailed plans which will confirm what is happening within the workstreams and when. This work will help to ensure the new system is ready to ‘go live’ in September 2024
