Biography

Kejia Yang is an Associate Research Fellow at SPRU. She completed her doctoral research at SPRU in 2020.

Her doctoral research examines how the interaction between new entrants and incumbents shape the speed and directionality of solar and wind power development in China and how this process further shapes the transformative change of the Chinese energy system with considering the grids and coal power sector. Using comparative case studies with two specific regions, Inner Mongolia, and Jiangsu province in China, she also addressed the questions of how to understand the across regional differences of solar and wind power development in China. During her PhD, she also worked for the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC), where she mainly engaged with China's partners to deliver the country and case study report on China's STI policy evolution and transformative change in energy system. She also worked for the Transpark project where she mainly develops the conceptual understanding of 'interoperability' for cross-sectoral transformative change towards sustainability.

After finished her doctoral studies, she worked as a visiting researcher at the Institutes of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Science (Beijing, China), where she studied on the role of research policy to nurture strategic basic research, and the evolution of China's research systems.

She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at TIK Centre of Technology, Innovation and Culture, University of Oslo, Norway. Her research focuses on the acceleration of low-carbon energy transitions.
